Mardin Artuklu University's Master's Program in Political Science and International Relations is an application-oriented graduate program that aims to train experts who can quickly integrate into the workforce by combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills. The program addresses the fundamental theories of political science and international relations, current policy analyses, and regional-global developments within an interdisciplinary framework. The language of instruction is Turkish; Turkish and English sources may be used in courses. Students gain practical skills such as concrete case analyses related to policy analysis, public policy design, foreign policy, and security studies, as well as project development, reporting, and presentation techniques. Assessment consists of term assignments, projects, presentations, and written exams. The non-thesis program includes coursework and a term project/final project; research methods, data collection, policy brief writing, and impact analysis are particularly emphasized. Graduates can be employed in research and reporting, project management, and specialist roles in public institutions, local governments, think tanks, civil society organizations, the media, and the private sector. The program strengthens ethical principles, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills; it encourages reading regional (Middle East/Mesopotamia) dynamics in the context of Turkey. Mardin Artuklu University's Master's program in Political Science and International Relations has been accepting students since 2022. Student admissions take place during the fall semester.

Qualification Awarded
|
Mardin Artuklu University awards a “Master's Degree (Thesis-Free)” to those who complete the Master's Degree in Political Science and International Relations without a thesis. The diploma name is SBUI; a final project replaces the thesis. The diploma or transcript indicates that the program is thesis-less.

Higher Grade Transition
|
Graduates of the Master's program in Political Science and International Relations at Mardin Artuklu University must first follow the conditions announced by the Graduate School of Education in order to advance to the next level. The typical path is to transfer to a thesis-based Master's program (equivalence) or apply directly for a PhD. Most institutions require a thesis-based MA diploma for doctoral studies; therefore, students transition from non-thesis to thesis-based programs, have their course equivalencies counted, complete any deficiencies, and proceed with the thesis process. Applications are generally evaluated based on ALES, foreign language proficiency (YÖKDİL/YDS/equivalent), academic grade point average, and interview.

The general requirements for graduation from the Master's program in Political Science and International Relations at Mardin Artuklu University are as follows: Complete the total credit/ECTS load specified by the institute during the program (30 credits/90 ECTS), successfully pass the required and sufficient number of elective courses, prepare the term/final project, submit it with the advisor's approval, and successfully present it.

Assessment and Grading

In non-thesis programs, assessment and evaluation generally consist of midterm and final components. Midterm exams, quizzes, assignments/projects, presentations, and class participation are graded; the final/completion project has a certain percentage of influence. Attendance is required. Regulations and course syllabi are followed.
