History
Mardin Artuklu University Department of Philosophy started undergraduate education in the 2010–2011 academic year, began master's level education in 2013, and launched the Philosophy PhD Program in the spring semester of 2021, building on faculty expertise and experience in graduate education.
The Philosophy PhD Program aims to train individuals capable of thinking critically and coherently about all areas of existence—from religion to art, knowledge to science, and ethics to politics—while using academic methods. It aims to equip master's graduates seeking to advance in social sciences with the ability to address historical philosophical issues of the region using scientific methods and research. The program attracts not only those who have completed undergraduate and master's education in philosophy, but also graduates from related fields such as sociology, psychology, linguistics, religion and cultural studies, history, and literature, reflecting philosophy's interdisciplinary nature.
The program aims to provide doctoral students with the pursuit of truth and self-awareness, reconnecting with ethical responsibility. It also aims to enhance expertise for students who completed their master's degree at other universities, preparing them for national and international academic careers.

Qualification Awarded
|
Students who successfully complete the Philosophy PhD Program and meet program competencies receive a PhD in Philosophy and become experts in their research area.

Higher Grade Transition
|
Students who successfully complete the program may earn a PhD degree in Philosophy, allowing them to use this title in academic life, publish their research, or apply for relevant university positions after meeting other necessary qualifications.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
University Faculty: Doctoral graduates can generally work as research assistants, lecturers, or assistant professors (doctoral faculty members).
Academic Administration and Research: They may take on roles such as department chair or research coordinator at institutes.
International Academia: They can serve as visiting faculty, postdoctoral researchers, or academic advisors abroad.
