About Programme
Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Midwifery is a 4-year (8 semesters) undergraduate program and provides education and training for its students to become professional midwives. The aim of our department, taking into account the needs of the country, is to provide graduates who choose us to be fully equipped, able to work independently, who have adopted lifelong learning as a principle, and who will take the midwifery profession to the top with scientific studies. There are 1 Associate Professor, 5 Doctoral Lecturers and PhD lecturers in the Midwifery Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences. There are 2 Research Assistants in their term. As of the 2022-2023 Fall semester, the number of students is 327.

Mardin Artuklu University School of Health Midwifery Department was established in 2009. Mardin Artuklu University School of Health was transformed into Faculty of Health Sciences in the official newspaper published in accordance with the Decree no. 30749 of 17 April 2019. The Department of Midwifery of the Faculty of Health Sciences continues its educational activities.

Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of the undergraduate program, the candidates can study in their own fields or related fields, provided that they have a valid score from ALES and have sufficient knowledge of English language. Specialist Midwife (Master of Science in Midwifery), Doctor Midwife (Doctorate of Philosophy in Midwifery). Work by opening the private medical cabinets.

Graduation Requirements
Advising of pregnant women, involving at least 100 pre-natal examinations. Supervision and care of at least 40 pregnant women. Conduct by the student of at least 40 deliveries; where this number cannot be reached owing to the lack of available women in labour, it may be reduced to a minimum of 30, provided that the student assists with 20 further deliveries. Active participation with breech deliveries. Where this is not possible because of lack of breech deliveries, practice may be in a simulated situation. The practice of suturing includes suturing of the wound following an episiotomy and a simple perineal laceration. This may be in a simulated situation if absolutely necessary. Supervision and care of 40 women at risk in pregnancy, or labour or post-natal period. Supervision and care (including examination) of at least 100 post-natal women and healthy new-born infants. Care to include education, theoretical knowledge, clinical practice for preventive and promote health and care of women with pathological conditions in the fields of gynaecology, obstetrics. Observation and care of the new-born requiring special care, including those born pre-term, post-term, underweight or ill.
