History
Mardin Artuklu University School of Tourism and Hotel Management was established in 2010 and has provided education in the field of tourism with its “Hospitality Management Department” since the 2011-2012 academic year. Upon the proposal letter of the Ministry of National Education, in accordance with the additional articles 30 and 158 of the Law No. 2809 dated 28/03/1983, the Council of Ministers decided to close the School of Tourism Management and Hotel Management under the Rectorate of Mardin Artuklu University on 04/06/2018 and to establish a "Faculty of Tourism" in accordance with the same date and article of the law. The proposal of the Mardin Artuklu University Rectorate to change the name of the Faculty of Tourism Hospitality Management Department to the Department of Tourism Management was examined at the Higher Education Executive Board meeting dated 10/04/2018 and the proposal was approved, provided that the status of current students is preserved in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of the Law No. 2547 amended by the Law No. 2880. Students will be admitted under the name of "Tourism Management" in the 2019-2020 academic year.

Qualification Awarded
Students who successfully complete all of the courses in the program (equivalent to 240 ECTS) are awarded a bachelor's degree. In order to obtain a bachelor's degree, students must successfully complete all of the compulsory and elective courses (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS) and have a cumulative grade point average of 60 out of 100 (at least 2.0 out of 4.00). In addition, in order to graduate from this department, students are required to complete 70 working days of workplace training (on-the-job professional practices) in enterprises deemed appropriate by the department establishment.

Admission Requirements
Admission and enrollment to the faculty are regulated within the framework of the Higher Education Law and rules. Students are admitted to the faculty according to the results of the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). The registration of candidates who have received sufficient points for admission to the faculty is made at the Faculty of Tourism on the dates determined by the Council of Higher Education.

Higher Grade Transition
Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education can study in graduate programs, provided that they get a valid grade from the ALES exam and have sufficient English language knowledge.

Well-educated and experienced tourism professionals have a wide range of job opportunities, primarily the following. Working areas of graduates:
They can work as sub, middle and senior level managers in departments in accommodation businesses. They will be able to work in travel businesses. They can work in entertainment, shopping, transportation and food and beverage businesses serving different branches in the tourism sector. They can take part in relevant departments of public institutions that provide accommodation and food and beverage services. Successful and amenable students can make an academic career. They can also establish their own businesses as a restaurant, cafe, and small-scale accommodation operator that can serve in the field of tourism that does not require large capital.
